Division FAQs

New in 2025, the East Bay Youth Football & Cheer (EBYFC) league will now operate with (2) divisions: Premier and Champion. Premier will now represent the division formerly known as 'Competitive'. Champion will now include both former 'Competitive' teams and also all secondary (formerly Development) teams fielded by each organization. Similar to every season, the T-Birds organization will field both Premier and Champion division teams based on the number of available athletes and coaches. Our total number of 2024 wins qualified T-Birds for the Premier division in 2025. All EBYFC organizations can field Champion division teams as they have enough players and coaches. In 2025, there will be (12) Premier teams (including T-Birds) and a to-be-determined number of Champion teams (including T-Birds).

We are proud to offer T-Bird Champion teams in the EBYFC's league. Champion is designed for newer players to the game of football. It teaches the basics and fundamentals of the game, this program provides each player more time on the field. Our Champion teams will have the same practice schedule and number of games as our Premier teams. We have many leagues that participate in this program and due to the high demand of field space in our area, most of our developmental games (if not all) will be played at away locations and not at Monte Vista High School.

Football: In 2025, we expect to field (4) Premier division teams:

  • Jr. Pee Wee
  • Pee Wee
  • Jr. Varsity
  • Varsity

and (5) Champion division teams:

  • Pee Wee - Champion
  • Jr. Varsity - Champion #1
  • Jr. Varsity - Champion #2
  • Varsity - Champion #1
  • Varsity - Champion #2

-----

Cheer: In 2025, we expect to field (4) Premier division teams:

  • Jr. Pee Wee
  • Pee Wee
  • Jr. Varsity
  • Varsity

and (3) Champion division teams:

  • Pee Wee - Champion
  • Jr. Varsity - Champion
  • Varsity - Champion

The number of Champion teams created is based on the number of registered players to support separate teams. In 2024, T-Birds had four Competitive Football teams, now 'Premier' (Jr. Pee Wee, Pee Wee, JV, and Varsity). There were also five Development Football teams, now to be fielded as 'Champion' (Pee Wee, JV Blue, JV Silver, Varsity Blue, and Varsity Silver). 8 of those 9 teams made the EBYFC playoffs. 5 of those 9 teams went to the Turkey Bowl (Pee Wee Comp, Pee Wee Dev, JV Dev Silver, Varsity Dev Silver, Varsity Comp). 2 of those 5 teams won this year's 2024 Turkey Bowl.

Registration FAQs

We anticipate fielding Champion teams which should greatly limit or eliminate any cuts being made but we cannot guarantee that until we know the number of athletes signed up for each division. Although your player may sign up for a specific division, we reserve the right to place any player on the team the coaches and board feel is the most appropriate. Rules and weight requirements may change before the season starts.

REGISTRATION FEES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

Equipment Your Player Will Keep

  • Practice Jersey
  • Game Day Football Socks

Equipment You Will Return To The League

  • Helmet
  • Shoulder Pads
  • 2 Pairs of Game and Away Jersey and Game Pants
  • Duffel Bag for gear

Please understand that football is a very costly sport and most leagues do not offer refunds because of the very high over head costs associated with the program. If your athlete decides to quit three weeks into practice it does not change the fact that we had to purchase all the jersey’s, clothing, helmets, pads and other costs associated with fielding a player. The registration fee cannot be refunded once your player steps on the field for his/her 1st practice. Participants that quit on their own are not available to receive a refund.

We will offer Football refunds based on the following timeline:

  1. Before 06/1/2025 - $500
  2. Refund Before 07/14/2024 - $300 refund
  3. On or After 07/14/2024 - $0 refund unless the athlete is cut (not quit).

We will offer Cheer refunds based on the following timeline:

  1. Before 06/1/2025 - $400
  2. Refund Before 07/14/2024 - $200 refund
  3. On or After 07/14/2024 - $0 refund unless the athlete is cut (not quit).

The exact date and time of T-Birds day will be communicated closer to June 2025.

Football FAQs

We are anticipating high demand across our T-Birds Football programs, especially at the Jr. Varsity and Varsity levels. We expect to field between 25 to 35 athletes per each of the (9) T-Bird Football teams in 2025.

Football registration will close on or around June 30th, 2025.

Yes, there is a TRYOUT period. Your Registration payment DOES NOT guarantee you a spot on the team. All registrations are subject to approval by San Ramon Valley T-Birds Board of Directors.

Yes. Athletes are welcome to bring their own helmets for the T-Birds season. However, the helmet must be up-to-date with current EBYFC safety specifications and also be approved by our VP of Operations during T-Birds Day in early July. Please indicate on your registration form If you plan to bring your own helmet for the upcoming season.

Unlike previous Development program minimum play rules in 2024 (X plays on Offense; X plays on defense), Champion teams will have the same minimum play rules as Premier (X number of plays total). This allows league teams to fill more Champion team rosters because fulfilling a flat number of total plays per game makes it easier for each Champion coach to balance player rotations.

Yes. This is a big benefit to the new Premier and Champion rule changes. Older/Lighter athletes are players who are a league age year older than regular players. They are allowed to play down a division if their weight falls within the weight limit of the Age/Weight Table in the EBYFC Rule Book. Older/Lighter players are NOT allowed to advance in age during the season.

Champion divisions will have the exact same rules as the Premier division. This means that Champion teams will can field up to (5) Older / Lighter athletes per team.

Cheer FAQs

We are anticipating high demand across our T-Birds Cheer programs. We expect to field between 20 to 25 athletes per each of the (7) T-Bird Cheer squads in 2025.

Cheer registration will close on or around March 30th, 2025. However, we expect high demand for Cheer, which may result in waitlists for the 2025 season. Please ensure you register immediately when registration opens on March 1st, 2025 at 10am PST.

Premier will have 2 practices per week.

Champion will have 1 practice per week.

We will work with all parents leading up to our first practices to ensure your Cheer athlete is on the team which will set them up for success.

Unfortunately, no - we cannot accommodate placement requests. To create a fair system for all Cheer athletes, we reserve the right to place them with appropriate skill and experience groups for their age level.
